He got life sentence for killing of Federal Judge in San Antonio, Texas in 1979. He died on March 15, 2007, in United States Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility. Woddy has two brothers: Jordan and Brett Harrelson.
Harrelson moved to Lebanon, Ohio, which was his mother native city, in 1973. In this town he graduated at Lebanon High School. He was member of Sigma Chi brotherhood while he was student at Hanover College. In 1983, he graduated with Bachelor of Arts in theater and English language.
Harrelson’s career starting in 1980s, his first big role was in TV series Cheers, which have 11 seasons and it was filmed from 1982 to 1993. He got good critics for this role, so he received Emmy Award in category of supporting actor in 1989.
While still filming Cheers, he decided to began with film career. In 1986, Harrelson filmed his first movie, a football comedy Wildcats. Wesley Snipes and Harrelson become friends, so the next Harrelson’s movie was with his friend on the hit White Men Can’t Jump.

Then he played in Natural Born Killers (1994), the Sunchaser (1996), Kingpin (1996). Role which got him big success and nomination for a Golden Globe was The People vs. Larry Flynt released in 1996. After this movie Harrelson received more serious roles, so in 1997 he starred in Welcome to Sarajevo, war movie, and in 1997 – Wag the Dog. In 1999 he played in war film The Thin Red Line, which was nominated for seven Academy Awards.
In 1999 he played to the movie of Ron Shelton – Play it to the Bone. After that he didn’t appear in the movies till 2003. In the 2003, Harrelson is back on the big screen in comedy movie Anger Management. In Tijuana, in 1985, he married Nancy Simon, and they was married for 10 months. Couple divorced in 1986.
In 1987, Harrelson met Laura Lonie, on the while filming Cheers. From than she was his assistant for couple of years. They married in 2008 and this couple is still in marriage. Laura and Harrelson have three daughters.
