Kodak Black Net Worth 2020, Bio, Wiki, Age, Height

Kodak Black is a 20-year-old rapper from Florida who got noticed in 2015 after another famous rapper promoted his song “Skrt” by filming himself dancing to it. He is known for songs “No Flockin” “Hungry”, and “Tunnel Vision”, as well as numerous controversies and issues with the law.

This article talks about all of those interesting details from Kodak Black’s life, and of course his net worth.

Early Years

Kodak Black was born as Dieuson Octave in Pompano Beach on the 11th of June 1997. He grew up in Golden Acres, a public housing project, raised by his mother, who is originally from Haiti, as well as his father.

Black started rapping at a very young age. He would record his music at a local trap house every day after school. There he gained new friends that were not a desirable role model for a young boy. As a consequence Octave was involved in several cases of break-ins and fights with those friends.

He knew the only way out from the road of a criminal was to make it as a rapper, so Octave spent his youth working on his songs and reading dictionaries to further his vocabulary.

The stage name Kodak Black was driven out of Octave’s childhood nickname “Lil’ Black”. He first went under the stage name “J Black”. Then he came up with a name that was more unique “Kodak Black” and used it for the first time to start an Instagram account.

Career Development

At the age of 12 Octave became a member of “Brutal Youngnz” group. Later on, he joined “The Kolyons”. His first mixtape saw the light of day in 2013. The tape was called “Project Baby” and Octave was 16 years old when it came out. Following years two more mixtapes came out.

The breakthrough moment for Kodak Black came in 2015 when his song “Skrt” got noticed thanks to Drake. The Canadian rapper was caught on film dancing to Black’s “Skrt” and Drake posted it on socials. A year later the song became number 10 on Billboard’s “Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles” chart.

Soon Atlantic Records signed a contract with Black and he announced a national tour. However Black did not show up at the “Parental Advisory Tour” he was supposed to attend with Lil Uzi Vert.

In June 2016 XXL magazine named Kodak Black one of “2016 Freshman Class”. The same month fourth mixtape signed with Black’s name came out. “Lil B.I.G. Pac” Black called it, and it was his first tape to reach Billboard’s chart.

Kodak Black’s single “Tunnel Vision” released in February 2017 became his first to get included amongst top 10 hits on the US Billboard Hot 100.

In March 2017 Black debuted with a studio album. It was called “Painting Pictures” and sold more than 70.000 copies in the first week following the release. The album also reached number three on the Billboard’s chart. More recently in August 2017 Octave released his fourth mixtape as a sequel to the first mixtape, and called it “Project Baby II”.

Kodak Black is currently not in a relationship. He has a three-year-old son called King Khalid Octave with a former girlfriend Jammiah Broomfield. Black has a complicated relationship with the mother of his son, and he has asked to get a partial custody of the child.
